With more than 840 million people without access to electricity and the energy sector contributing more than 40% of global greenhouse gases emissions, ensuring access to clean, sustainable energy for all is critical. The SDG7 Youth Constituency is a platform for youth to channel their actions and voices in the energy sector, with emphasis on renewable energy sources.

Recently, I was informed I have been selected by the United Nations to form part of its Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY). This is the UN General Assembly-mandated, official, formal and self-organised mechanism for young people to meaningfully engage in the UN.
UNMGCY acts as a bridge between young people and the UN system in order to ensure that their right to meaningful participation is realized. It does so by engaging formal and informal communities of young people, in the design, implementation, monitoring, follow-up, and review of sustainable development policies at all levels.
Specifically, I will be part of the Youth Constituency for the Sustainable Development Goal 7. We will promote and take actions around the energy sector with a view on sustainable and renewable energy.
I will collaborate as a Thematic Focal Point for the 2020-2021 period, representing Peru and my organization Microgrids for Sustainability. I hope to do the best and chart a path for sustainable development in my region.
